# Orphan Seat Rule

Learn how to activate the orphan seat feature to stop online customers from leaving single seats when booking.

1. Go to **Events** and Select **Modify** Event.
2. Select the relevant event from the drop-down and click **Modify Event.**
3. In the **Ticket Allocation** column under the name of the seating plan,  hover and click the **pencil icon** to modify.
4. Tick the box **Enable orphan seat rule on internet bookings.**
5. Click **save changes.**
6. Repeat the process to the rule for every date of your event. 

If you're creating a new event, you will be prompted to enable to orphan seat rule when you add your **Ticket Allocation.**


||| The orphan seat rule has some flexibility for online bookings when an event is almost sold out. The system will allow customers to leave a single seat if there are no other seats available for them to book on that row. The orphan seat rule is only applicable to online bookings and not applicable to tickets sold through your back office.
